Puppets and Dolls

What a strange title for a post? Maybe… but you’ll see!

I’ve been trying to find some good craft ideas lately for this time of year. Winter isn’t gone… Spring isn’t here… and there’s just not much going on worth writing about! (Well, unless you’re Ann and have a March birthday!) Anyways, I thought of the idea of puppets or dolls awhile back. I haven’t sent any of these to Ann but I’m definitely keeping them for the future and I figured I’d share some inspiration today with you as well. The best part is that you could sent them to pretty much any child.

Finger/hand puppets are a great idea no matter who you child is! I think the best part about these is that you can change them up depending how where your child is from, their age, etc. There’s so many options including seasonal finger/hand puppets as well. Don’t forget when you’re putting together these little creatures that you can mix it up with different materials too. Not only can you use paper but you could use felt which will last a little longer and still ship easily!

In most cases, you won’t be able to send blocks… and even if you can I can’t imagine that a box of blocks to Africa or anywhere overseas would be cheap! So, here’s what I’m thinking : poster board! Why not use this great idea and print it on card stock or poster board? It’s the same great idea but in an easy to ship form! I definitely want to do this project for Ann in the future. I think it’s a great way to show your sponsor child all different types of people and also let them have fun at the same time.

Last, but not least, dolls! Why not send an already assembled paper doll to your child. I would say to send them the pieces to put together this project but not all children will have the materials (glue, scissors, etc.) to do so. My recommendation is to either make a figure like the one pictured or simply just create a typical paper doll. Once you’ve done that, include a few outfits (maybe even some basic ones for them to color) and there you go! What a great, fun, gift for your child. And it could be a gift that you keep giving with as well. Why not create a doll and every letter from then on send a new little outfit!

Hope everyone enjoys these ideas! If you have any similar projects that you’ve done before make sure you share and let me know!
