Earlier this month I received a new letter from Ann. I wasn’t sure if or when I’d hear from her again but I was happy when I saw the Child Fund envelope. It was a pretty basic letter with nothing big or special included but as I’ve mentioned many times before any letter from her is special. I always like to know what is going on and that she has received the gifts I send her.
The letter was written by her “cousin brother” or “step brother” (he seemed to have some difficulty defining his title). Either way, he said everyone is doing well. He mentioned that Ann was currently at school doing her end of term exams. He also mentions that they received my birthday card! I am beyond excited for this since I know it was a little bulkier than what I typically send which can cause some issues with customs. Just knowing that Ann has now been able to hear my voice is awesome to me! I could not be happier that I decided to send that to her and plan to make it a yearly tradition from now on. Lastly, he mentioned that they are busy planting first season crops. This made me smile because I remember my first letter from Ann’s mother almost a year ago exactly. In that letter, she mentioned planting first season crops. It’s still hard for me to believe it’s been a year of sponsoring Ann. What an amazing year!
Although this was all good to read, a thought/concern is still lingering with me. Why is her mother, Akiding Mary, not writing anymore. She is no longer mentioned in any of the letters and the past two letters have been written by other members of the family. Although it is nice to hear from other relatives of Ann I have to question, why? The one thing I wish is that Child Fund would communicate with me about family issues. Will they? If Ann’s mother did in fact pass away would they mention it? No one has so far. Although it doesn’t make a difference with me sponsoring Ann, I have become close to both her and her mother within the past year so it would be nice to know what is going on in their lives. If Ann did loose her mother this past year, that’s a big event and one I would wish to know about. Anyways, maybe I’m just worrying over nothing. But, like I mentioned in my last entry, it’s a continuing concern of mine.
Well, that’s it for now. Has anyone else received letters from their sponsor children lately? If so, feel free to share!
